"Diego always welcomes customers with a smile and plenty of expertise. When you cross the threshold, you are immediately enveloped by the feeling of being in an elegant and timeless environment: the recent renovation of the restaurant is a small masterpiece of furniture/design through which the guest is literally captured in an almost dreamlike dimension".
"The basic cue is shabby chic, but the architect's skill was to tone down anything that might have seemed 'ruffian' or 'already seen', increasing the emotional tenor through the use of symbolic elements, such as bas-reliefs or terracotta vases, in harmony with the walls worked with a 'scratched plaster' effect.
The tables no longer have tablecloths as they once did, while the chairs become comfortable thanks to generous padding. At the entrance, the convivial table boasts even softer seating: a real sofa with five comfortable seats that seems to want to say to its patrons 'relax, this is your home'".

Ristorante Biancofiore in Bari is an interesting address in the historic city a few steps from Piazza del Ferrarese. Recently renovated, it offers a refined ambience. You may have also seen it in
Alessandro Borghese's episode of 4 Ristoranti to uncover the best raw fish.
“Bari's raw seafood is a real religion for the city's inhabitants”, states Diego Biancofiore, manager of the fish restaurant in Bari that bears his surname, opened as a family-run business in the centre of Puglia's capital city.
“From carpaccio to tartare, from crustaceans to seafood, our raw selection is known all over the world”, points out the owner of Ristorante Biancofiore.
Astonishing! This word defines Ristorante Biancofiore in the capital of the Italian region, Bari. Located in the historic centre, very close to our B&B accommodation La Uascezze, it is great for dinner after a long day without having to travel far. What a pleasure it was to find this restaurant.
Ristorante Biancofiore in Bari
Puglia is sea, the sea is fish, and fish... is eaten raw!!! And this is mostly how we eat it in Bari at Daniela and Diego's Ristorante Biancofiore. But then, where is the professional skill of the "innkeeper", you say? Simple... in the skill of selection...and excuse me for saying so.
Choosing one fish, rather than another, is not random. The raw material speaks and Diego listens...
Of course, raw food is not for everyone, it takes the right palate and antibodies...you don't grant it to the first comer without painful consequences. And we have the
physique du rôle...we are Irpini!!! Eating raw might seem troglodyte, but instead it is gourmet. Cooking once had a hygienic function, now with modernity, no more.

That first evening in Bari we went to dine at a restaurant mentioned in the Michelin guide, which has no stars, but has nothing to envy those who do.

Three suggestions on where to drink good wine in Bari without having to make a whole dinner party. The first place is right in the centre, a few dozen metres from the Petruzzelli Theatre, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 13. It is the recently opened Biancofiore restaurant, owned by Diego and Daniela.
Enhancing the products of the Apulian territory, creating a revisited and seasonal typical cuisine: this is Biancofiore, a restaurant in Bari located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, a few metres from the famous Piazza del Ferrarese, one of the entrances to the Borgo Antico.
Owner Diego Biancofiore has been welcoming guests with his wife Daniela for the past year and a half; a few metres further on, between the main and side dining rooms, diners can admire chef Giacinto Fanelli at work with fresh fish, artisanal pasta and seasonal vegetables, assisted by the skilled Marco Vitulli.
A Mediterranean, homely atmosphere of beige and light blue, enlivened by elegant background music, is reminiscent of Greece and the seafront promenade that undulates just a few metres away. Diego chooses the best biodynamic and natural wines and, in addition to the a la carte menu that changes every three months, he offers them in combination with seasonal foods including the unfailing daily catch with which Giacinto delights, creating surprising off-menu items.

Yesterday was Sophie‘s birthday and so we decided that rather than go to one of the restaurants we know and love, we’d try something new. There has been a real renaissance of new restaurants and hotels all over Puglia in the last few years, and we had a few places in Bari on our ‘to do’ list. Biancofiore was at the top.
Ristorante Biancofiore in Bari is undoubtedly an unmissable place to enjoy the exceptional raw material that the sea and land of Puglia and the city of Bari itself have to offer.
